Driving Green - Inside IUPUI

Campus Facility Services staff members Donna Kent and Brady McManama are shown with the department's "GEM" or Global Electric Motorcar. The E4 model of the Chrysler vehicle is completely battery operated. Designed for low speeds, the vehicle is approved for public road use because it meets certain safety criteria such as having safety glass, headlamps/tail lamps, windshield wipers, and of course safety belts.
The environmentally friendly vehicle can transport four passengers at a time, has a trunk for cargo items, and is equipped with a fan and heater to allow for the use of the unit during inclement weather.

The CFS vehicle whose paint scheme is representative of its environmental qualities is one of at least two GEMs on the IUPUI campus. UITS also has one of the environmentally green vehicles.
