- You may request a box by calling the CFS Customer Call Center at 8-1900.
- Why do I have to separate their various types of paper and then dump the paper in the big blue recycling receptacles, mixing the paper again?
- We ask that office occupants use their individual recycling containers and separate the paper (mixed, office or newspaper) before taking it to the recycling stations, where individual bins are located. Currently office and mixed paper should not be combined. We welcome all customers input regarding where recycle bins should be placed and how many should be placed. Please send all suggestions to recycles@iupui.edu
- Do I empty the recycling cardboard boxes themselves or will Building Services do it when the offices are cleaned?
- Offices occupants are asked to take their recycling cardboard box to the nearest recycling station and place the contents into the appropriate blue bins.
- What am I to do with cardboard boxes?
- We ask that all office occupants “break-down” their boxes. Small quantities (1 - 4 boxes) can be placed outside of your office and the custodian will pick them up. For large quantities of boxes, call 8-1900.
Note: empty pizza boxes can be recycled if they do not contain any leftover food. - What am I to do with newspapers?
- Many recycling stations on campus have blue bins labeled Magazines. Newspapers can be placed in any blue bin labeled Magazines or Newspapers. If you want to know the location of the nearest recycling station in your building , please send an email to recycles@iupui.edu If your building does not have a newspaper recycling bin, newspapers can be taken to the roll off recycling container on the east side of Psychiatrist Research
- What am I to do with batteries?
- The Department of Environmental Health and Safety collects nickel/cadmium and lead/acid batteries for recycling. To request a battery pickup, please fill out the waste material manifest form. Standard household-sized (A, AA, AAA, C, D, 9-volt) batteries are not collected for recycling and may be disposed of in the trash.

- These materials are not recyclable and should be thrown away or taken back by the soft drink carrier.
- When will the stations that allow the separation of the paper be placed in the buildings?
- Currently, recycling stations are located in public spaces in all buildings. Customers can request additional containers by calling 8-1900
- Is the Recycling Team responding only to pickup calls or do they have a route to follow?
- There is no longer a recycling team. Recycling is currently picked up by building services custodians.
- What if the recycling receptacles are full? Who do I contact?
- Please call the CFS Customer Call Center at 8-1900.
- How do I recycle printer cartridges?
- Toner and ink jet cartridges need to be handled carefully to prevent damage and to ensure they are refilled and reused. After removing the new printer cartridge you have received from its box, please place the empty cartridge into the same box. Then place the box containing the empty cartridge within the appropriate recycling container. A container for collecting cartridges is being placed within the new recycling stations on the first floor of most campus buildings. If the cartridge container should be full, please place your cartridge neatly on the floor beside the recycling station and call the CFS Customer Call Center at 8-1900 to request a pick up.
