How do I recycle?


Recycling is more than just tossing your empty can into a recycling container...it's a lifestyle.

Items accepted by IUPUI for recycling:

  • office paper
  • mixed paper
    • ACCEPTABLE: colored paper, newspapers, and magazines
  • plastic:
    • ACCEPTABLE: Look at bottom of the container for a Plastics 1 recycling label (PETE) or Plastics 2 recycling label(HDPE) symbol
    • NOT ACCEPTABLE: Containers labeled Plastics 3 recycling label through Plastics 7 recycling label
  • aluminum, tin, steel containers:
    • ACCEPTABLE: All Beverage and Food Cans
    • NOT ACCEPTABLE: Any other metal, including scrap metal
  • cardboard, nickel/cadmium and larger lead/acid batteries, printer and toner cartridges
